Here we are at the Woodburn Dragstrip in Woodburn, Oregon. The owner of the drag strip was nice enough to let us take some photo's of "Long Gone". Most of these pictures were taken by a good friend of mine, named Ron Watson, of Salem, OR.
There were 13 total Holman Moody cars built, at least the 1st 7 had SOHC motors, they were very rare in 1965, the other cars were 427 Wedge cars. Very soon after though this car did recieve a 427 SOHC with Dual 4bbl carbs, it has with it a A/FX tear drop hood, and the ducting much like you see on a Thunderbolt, that goes through the front radiator support, which this car still has the orginal radiator support with the duct work. Vin number is on the apron, and door, they were K code models to start out with, and the 6 digit unit number started with a 6XXXXX. This car has a professionally built 427 SOHC engine with Hilborn Injection, as you will see in a couple pictures Below that is Bob Hamilton back in 1965 and the car did get this treatment. In 1967 it was the Jersey Rattler, see pictures. Also you will see it up against the Tasca Ford drag car.
Here is a picture of it this last fall 2005, in Canada at a Local Strip near Vancouver, B.C.

This is a copy of Legendary Ford Magazine, Sept-Oct 2007 issue, new out on the stands. The editor was nice enough to let me write the feature.

The owner of the car, Jim Donofrio, and myself talking about how great this engine runs, there is nothing like the sound and feel of an enjected 427 SOHC.

When it ran back in the mid 60's it had a Tear Drop hood it, which we have one of those as well, but this hood shows off the Stacks nicely. Back in 1965, the original hood was destroyed, the Flywheel and pressure plate blew up, and sent it straight up through the hood, I have pictures of that, it looked scary.

This is Colin the Editor of "Legendary Ford Magazine" taking pictureso the the massive 427 SOHC.

Imagine running on these original MH Race Master Race Slicks from 1965, especially running in the high 9's.
