1969 Datsun 2000 - SRL
You are viewing a real Datsun 2000 Sports Roadster. It is a real 2000, SRL311 car denoted by the VIN. It is numbers matching, meaning that the original drivetrain is still in the car, with the Engine # stamped on the block, which matches the cowl tag. This car has spent most of its life in Oregon. The original owners parked it in 1982, due to a brake issue, with around 60,000 miles on it. The car was parked in dry storage until around 2005. The 2nd owner, here in Salem, Oregon, did a complete mechanical tuneup and rebuild of the mechanicals. New Stayfast Back Canvas Top, restored top bows, seats, carpet etc...
The engine was completely rebuilt professionally, with all standard clearances, it runs great, and has nice power. The dual Carburetor's and intake system, were professionally restored by Steve at Z-Therapy, one of the best guys in the business. Transmission was inspected, and was in great shape, so it was cleaned, and new gear oil installed, new clutch assembly and components. The brakes were completely rebuilt, new rotors, cylinders, rubber brake lines, master cylinder. Original wheels were restored, and has new tires. Overall mechanically this is a great car, this is a car that you can fly in right now and drive home.
The interior is in nice shape. Seats were professionally recovered with correct comfort weave material, new carpet kit, new rear panel kit, truck liner, and new top as I mentioned before and restore top bows. Door panels are original and are in decent shape, there is a little wear on them, but look good for original. The dash pad has come chips and some cracking, it could use a simple dash cover or a new dash if you choose in the future. The console is in good shape, but it has some chipping in the center, and could use restored. The Radio works, the gauges all work, wipers, heater and fan work. The choke works great. The only thing not working inside is the clock, cig lighter, and the map light in the console. Overall interior is in nice shape for a Datsun of this age.
The paint is older and is showing its age, but it does have a nice shine. This car is a fantastic driver, and that is what it was built to do, then again I am not asking $20k for it either. The paint probably the only thing that you may want to redo in the future. For local shows and events it is fine. The body work is a little wavy, and has some imperfections. It would be a pretty easy repaint if you ever decide to redo it. There is some various chips on the car, I show most of them in the pictures. The chrome is in okay shape, the bumpers have some pitting, and so does various other chrome pieces. This again is one of these things that you could work on as you own the car, or just drive it as is. Undercarriage is very clean, no rust issues, you can see that the floors are original, all the body mounts are in great shape. The trunk floor is original paint as well the inner quarters in the truck area are all original. Door jams are still original paint and nice. Exhaust system is in good shape. The frame is in nice shape no issues, in very good condition.
It is not a trailer queen, but it is a very nice Datsun 2000, that you would not be afraid to drive, but would also want to park it far away from anyone else in a general parking lot. Look at all the pictures, study them, and read the auction. Please give me a call if you have any questions, 503-910-2085. Thanks, Jason
